City Tower Shinjuku in Tokyo’s Shinjuku Ward

The name Shinjuku translates as “shining town” and the area is indeed bright with numerous department stores, office buildings and restaurants. It also hosts the main store of Books Kinokuniya, one of the country’s largest bookstore chains. In terms of transportation, Shinjuku Station is the most heavily used underground station in Tokyo with a total of over 100 platforms serving approximately 200 trains each hour.

Shinjuku is a special ward of Tokyo, with the status equivalent to that of a city. It has an elected mayor (Qu Yi Hui) and a ward council (Qu Yuan kugikai) with 38 members; the Liberal Democratic Party, New Komeito Party and Japanese Communist Party all have representatives together with four independents. The southeastern part of the district is a business area centered on Shinjuku Station, with major retailers such as Isetan, Takashimaya and Marui all located there.

In contrast, the eastern parts of the ward have more traditional features with residential areas and elegant shops lining the streets. The neighborhood is also renowned for its many luxury boutiques, stylish cafes and restaurants. Moreover, its construction regulations help to preserve the area’s quaint feel and make it a popular choice for those seeking elegance in a more relaxed setting.

Originally a theater and entertainment district, the area began to take on its present shape after 1920 when the town of Naito-Shinjuku, Nishi-Shinjuku and Kabukicho was integrated into Tokyo City. In addition to the numerous department stores, the area also has some of Tokyo’s tallest skyscrapers.

West Shinjuku is a シティタワー新宿 business district and commercial center, with numerous offices and companies having their headquarters here. These include regional telephone operator NTT East, camera and medical device manufacturer Olympus, electronics giant Seiko Epson, video game developer Square Enix, instant noodle brand Nissin Foods, railway company Odakyu Electric Railway and travel agency H.I.S.

With its streamlined modern designs and guestrooms that overlook the city, City Tower Shinjuku offers a unique experience to visitors. Guests can enjoy the high-rise views and the many attractions nearby, including Okubo Park and Robot Restaurant.

The hotel is a short walk from the famous Kabukicho red-light district and a five-minute ride from Shinjuku Station, making it easy to access the rest of the city. Guests can also visit a range of restaurants and bars within walking distance, including Mugi no Oto, Teppan Baby Shinjuku and Common Cafe. It’s also just a 10-minute drive from several shopping options, including Omotesando and the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. For those who want to see the sights in style, a limousine service is available from the hotel. For those who prefer to explore on their own, free WiFi is provided.
